'Tis the Season
It's Christmas time again,
here we go.
This time of year,
nothing moves slow.
Everyone rushes around
buying gifts and pretending joy.
No one seems to remember
the real birthday boy.
Have we all forgotten,
forgotten the reason
that most of the world
celebrates this season?
Do children know the meaning
of Christmas these days?
Are there any left that aren't
being taught selfish ways?
It's all about what you get, maybe
a little about what you give
But do any know the story
of how our saviour came to live?
About the virgin and the donkey
and no room at the inn
How the angel announced
that our king was born again.
The three wise men
that followed the star
how they traveled three days
but it wasn't too far
to lay gifts before him
where the baby boy lay
in the small manger
Mary had softened with hay.
How has the legacy
been forgotten?
Instead children are raised
to be spoiled rotten.
They want Christmas toys
and worship St. Nick
The reason for the season
now makes me sick.
I'd rather avoid it all
and stay home by myself
and worhip baby Jesus
instead of a large, rosy elf.
